Weather decides the start date

Outside paint needs a dry surface and a mild day to cure properly. Our crews don't start outside work when rain or heavy dew is due, and on hot days they follow the shade around the house instead of painting walls in full sun. It can move a start date, and that's the point.

Salt air and galvanised gutters

Near the bay, salt and wind wear paint faster, and bare metal is the first thing to suffer. On coastal jobs our painters prime galvanised gutters and downpipes before the top coat, because paint put straight onto galvanised steel can lift and peel.

Prep on the outside of a house

Flaking paint is scraped back until what's left is sound. Cracks and gaps are filled, bare timber is primed, and old gloss is sanded so the new coat can grip. Window frames and doors are checked for old oil-based paint at the quote, since that needs its own primer.

What we don't take on

We don't paint roofs, and we don't take on lead paint removal. If your home is older and the paint is flaking badly, that's worth knowing before you ask anyone for a price.

Aussie Painting vs the lowest bid

Don't pay for your exterior repaint twice.

The cheapest quote skips the prep, uses cheap paint and does one coat. It looks fine for a few months, then it peels, and you're paying someone to strip it and start again.

Quotes and price

How do I get a quote?

Call us or send the form with a line about the job and where you are. We'll arrange a time to look at it and give you a written quote. The quote is free.

How much does it cost to paint a house?

It depends on the size of the area, how much preparation the surfaces need, their condition, access and height, and how many coats it takes. We don't guess over the phone: we look at the job and put the price in writing, with each of those explained.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes, but only enough to cover the materials for your job. Everything else about payment is set out in your written quote before we start.

How long will the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, how much prep it needs and, outside, the weather. Before we start you get a planned schedule, and if anything moves the dates we tell you.

The job itself

Who actually does the painting?

Daniel's team of trade-qualified painters. Daniel runs the business and is your contact from the quote to the final walk-through.

What paint do you use?

Dulux, on every job. We pick the right Dulux product for the surface, whether that's a wet-area ceiling, weatherboards or a factory wall.

What time of year is best for exterior painting?

Dry, mild weather. Paint needs a dry surface and a temperature in the manufacturer's range while it cures, so exterior work is planned around the forecast. You get a planned schedule, and if rain moves the dates we tell you.

Do weatherboards need to be stripped back before painting?

Not always. Sound paint is sanded and spot-primed; flaking or failed paint is taken back until it's sound. We'll tell you which your house needs when we look at it.

Peace of mind

Are you insured?

Fully insured, $20 million public liability, on every job.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. Every job comes with a 7-year workmanship guarantee. If something fails because of how we did it, we come back and fix it.
