Marine Drive and the streets behind it
Safety Beach started around 1912 with blocks sold off Marine Drive and Dromana Parade. Low, damp ground
Much of Safety Beach is flat, low land. The planning scheme maps it as alluvial plain and reclaimed swamp that may have limited drainage, with a high water table at the rural edge, and king tides with heavy rain have pushed creek water back into homes.
